HC orders ad-hoc panel for 38th National Games

Imphal, January 08 2025: The Manipur High Court has directed for constituting an ad-hoc committee for selecting players for the 38th National Games, scheduled to be held from January 28 till February 14 in Uttarakhand.

The direction was given in response to a petition filed by the Manipur Judo Association.

The petition stated that after the term of the Manipur Olympic Association expired and no consensus reached on the election, the matter is delaying the selection process for players, who would compete in the National Games.

As such, it appealed to the court to look into the matter and form an ad-hoc committee.

The petitioner's proposal was also endorsed by the state and it appealed for including the administrative secretary and director of Youth Affairs & Sports and experts of various disciplines.

After examining submissions of both counsels, the Manipur High Court directed for immediate formation of an ad-hoc committee consisting of the administrative secretary and director of Youth Affairs & Sports and experts of various disciplines for the selection process.
