Imphal, January 08 2014: Manipur Naat Kanba Lup has imposed restriction on wearing Kurta-Pyajama at religious and social ceremonies of the Meetei community, and appealed to the gents to wear the traditional Pheijom (dhoti) .

Talking to media persons at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here today, Spokesperson of Manipur Naat Kanba Lup Naba Wareppa said that wearing Kurta-Pyajama at the religious and social ceremonies creates a bad impression and it should be avoided as far as possible.

The rich attires of the Meeteis such as Pumyaat (shirt) and Pheijom (loincloth) should be worn by the gents at all ceremonies of the Meetei Community.

No other outfit should replace such traditional dresses, the Spokesperson enjoined.
