Awareness programme on Zoonoses organised

In continuation of the week-long observance of World Zoonoses Day-2022, an awareness programme was conducted at Churachandpur District Hospital on Thursday.
The programme was organised by District Hospital and Office of CMO, Churachandpur District with support from Regional Coordinator, National One Health Program for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses (NOHPPCZ), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal under the aegis of NCDC, New Delhi.
District Hospital, Churachandpur CMO Dr Kim Simte and MS Dr Vanlankungi were respectively chief guest and president of the programme, which was also attended by District Veterinary Hospital joint director Dr Goj and RIMS HOD of Microbiology Dr Kh Ranjana Devi as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kim Simte informed that the awareness programme is a good initiative for the betterment of public.
She also mentioned that it is the first time that such a programme is being held at the district hospital of Churachandpur.
During the programme, Dr Kh Ranjana Devi highlighted different types of zoonotic diseases and emphasised the need for strengthening surveillance with a strong laboratory to detect zoonotic diseases, along with stating that it is necessary to work collectively among various stakeholders such as veterinary department, health department, forest department, etc., for effective prevention practices required against the diseases.
The programme was also attended by doctors, nurses and staff members from different hospitals and departments associated with the programme.
Later, pamphlets con taining information and awareness messages related to zoonotic diseases were distributed to the participants.
