PREPAK greets women, lauds Irom Sharmila

Imphal, March 07 2012: On the occasion of International Women's Day, the proscribed UG group PREPAK in a press statement greeted the women of the state and also lauded the efforts of Irom Chanu Sharmila, who is on fast for over 11 years now demanding repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 .

In the statement, PREPAK stated that women in Manipur have been playing an important role in almost all aspects of life ranging from domestic chores to ruling the kingdom and moulding the future generations to defending their motherland from the hand of the enemy.

It was on account of the courage of Meetei women that the mighty British got defeated.

The International Women's Day is being observed in all over the world under the theme "Connecting Girls, Inspiring Future".

On the occasion, PREPAK urged the women of Manipur to come forward and continue to play active role towards safeguarding the culture, identity, freedom of the state as well as the rights for women for a bright and shining future of Manipur.
