Imphal, December 06 2017:
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has condemned the boycott of former Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is currently the MLA of Nungba A/C by United Naga Council (UNC) for affirming that the integrity of the State cannot be compromised .
Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, ZU (AMN) president Amu Kamei said that UNC announced a boycott of Gaikhangam on November 30 last after the former Deputy CM during a sit-in-protest stated that the integrity of the State cannot be put at stake at any cost .
He pointed out that UNC does not represent all the Naga sub-tribes though the council can work as a representative of the people.
Referring to the contentious Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India, he said that the agreement which has drawn flaks from certain sections is a Parliamentary subject matter .
Protecting the integrity of the State from any threats is the collective stand of all the MLAs, he added .
He said that Zeliangrong Union came into existence in 1925 whereas the UNC was established in 1980 .
