In response to the challenges facing the global environment, a handful of concerned local youths carried out a slew of noble initiatives with a message to plant more trees in Ukhrul town.

'The district administration would like to work with civil societies to intervene the degrading forest in Ukhrul district,' he said while lauding the effort of youths during the programme.

Urging the gathering to put in more efforts in protecting the forest in the district, Tipnis appealed for measures to plant more trees.
"Don't only talk trees, discuss treesplant, plant more trees......" he stated.
The public response towards the initiative was remarkably impressive as hundreds of people walked out from their homesteads to collect the saplings.
