Laithok Ching attack unacceptable: UCM

United Committee Manipur (UCM) said Tuesday's Laithok Ching attack which left one dead and four others injured was an incident unacceptable to all communities.
On Wednesday, a team of UCM led by is president Elangbam Johnson visited Pallel and Phatu Khul in connection with the incident which occurred around 9 pm on Tuesday when unidentified men indiscriminately fired on a ritual Lai Lamthokpa party.
The committee held a press meet at its office in Lamphel after the visit.
UCM secretary general YK Dhiren said the Laithok Ching incident was unacceptable and that no community should attack and kill people attending a ritual ceremony.
"We're shocked by the fatal incident," he said.
He said that the UCM team met leaders of Pallel and Saitu Khul during the visit.
Considering the prevailing situation, the State Government must arrest the assailants involved in the killing and punish at the earliest.
Dhiren also urged the State Government to take action to restore peace in the area and appealed to all communities to exercise maximum restraint.
He further called upon all villagers of the area to maintain peace and harmony by helping the authorities in their efforts to nab and punish those involved in the crime.
"We've shared the grief of the bereaved family and all the victims of the incident," he added.
UCM leaders Sanjit Soraisam, RK Mangisana and Leishemba Lamabam were also present during the press meet.
