Two days training programme begins

A two day Training of Trainers (TOT) on 'Counselling and Resource Mobilisation on Psycho-active Substance Use' under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan began today at the main auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Compound.
The training programme organised by the Department of Social Welfare and training will cover local clubs of five valley districts namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching.
Delivering the inaugural speech, Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director of Social Welfare highlighted the significance of treating psycho-active substance use as an illness and the need to seek help and treatment accordingly.
He also stressed on the need for community participation through local clubs as a mechanism to combat and prevent the psycho-active substance use in their respective localities.
In the technical session, Dr Senjam Gojendra Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry RIMS and Paonam Thoibi, clinical psychologist spoke as the resource persons on topics related to pyscho-active substance abuse, its impact and the need for treatment.
The training was attended by representatives of local clubs of the five districts.
