Guard kills UKNA camp commander Thangminlian

Camp commander of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) Thangminlian Haokip died early Sunday morning after he was allegedly gunned down by his own guard.
The non-SoO Kuki militant group UKNA came to light after the outfit claimed responsibility for the recent attack on trucks plying along Imphal-Jiribam road which left one driver injured and five fuel tankers badly damaged.
As per sources, Thangminlian Haokip alias Hunter, son of chief of Geljang village in Kangpokpi Seisat Haokip, was shot dead by his own guard early Sunday morning.
The firing incident happened near Old Nabil (Geljang) village under Henglep police station of Churachandpur district close to Leimatak village.
The last rites of Thangminlian, who reportedly died on the spot, will be conducted at Geljang village.
Notably, UKNA claimed responsibility for the attack on trucks playing along Imphal-Jiribam road near Kaimai on April 16.Few days after the attack, UKNA defence secretary issued a statement claiming that the attack was the first offensive operation against transportation of arms meant for the Meetei community along the highway and warned of more offensive operations if transporters do not heed its call.
