Imphal, October 04 2021:
The JAC formed against the murder of Athuan Abonmei has expressed gratitude to organisations and public who supported the 24-hour state wide total shutdown and declared that it will continue democratic forms of agitation until their demands are met.
In a statement, the JAC thanked UCM, AMUCO, IPSA, MMWO, UPF, MAPI Council, CLK, PANDM, HERICOUN, ACOAM Lup, AMKIL, Nupi Samaj, Tammee Chingmee Apunba Nupi Lup, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, ANUL, NIMPAL, Thoubal Ima, NIPCO, CADA, UPACO, MMPFA, ICHEL, EEVFAM, Macha Leima, AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, SUK, AIMS, TUC, MCM, NCHRO, Meira Pai-bi and local clubs for their support.
The overwhelming support from the public shows that unity still exists among the indigenous people and they are against armed organisations killing innocent public, the JAC said.
It is due to the failure of the government authorities and agencies that abduction of a public leader from the venue of a government programme attended by the chief minister could neither be prevented nor rescued.
The government was slow in acting against the incident and till date, the government has not been able to arrest the prime accused of the crime.
As such, the JAC will continue democratic forms of agitation until their demands are met and justice is delivered.
The JAC also strongly condemned circulation of fake videos with the sole purpose of misleading the JAC and its movement to the public.
However, such propagandas cannot stop the public movement and JAC will continue its stir until their demands are met, the statement said while calling upon the people of different communities and faiths to join hands and stand up as one against divisive and criminal elements.
