Royal Palace takeover protest continues

Members of Kongba Kshetri Leikai Panthoibi Apunba Lup took part in the protest against State Government's decision to acquire Sana Konung for development into a historical monument at Sana Konung here today.
The continuing protest session against over the State Cabinet's decision on taking over the Royal Palace completed 42 days today.
Participating in the protest session, Secretary of Panthoibi Apunba Lup said that the State Government can develop the Sana Konung to make it more elegant, but its decision to evict the King from the Palace and convert the living institution into a museum-like structure is quite condemnable.
The Government should withdraw its decision as soon as possible, she demanded.
Members of National Highway 37 Kanglei Ching Tam Leima Lup staged a sit-in-protest demonstration at Chongabon, yesterday.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, Thiyam Silleima, President of National Highway 37 Kanglei Ching Tam Leima Lup, pointed out that there are lots of rites and rituals of the State which could never be performed without the presence of the King of Manipur.
So, the decision of the State Government to take over Sana Konung and drive away the King from the Palace is very unfortunate.
It is a clear case of trying to destroy the culture and tradition of the State, she asserted.
She further stated that the National Highway 37 Kanglei Ching Tam Leima Lup would lend all possible supports to the movement being launched by Sana Konung Semgat Sagat Lup to save Sana Konung.
