Reacting to the news report published in some local daily newspapers recently regarding the 'misleading', 'defamatory' and 'unfounded' statements made by one Pushpa Gurumayum and her party against the new School Transport Policy of Shishu Nistha Niketan, Nongthombam Elizabeth, principal of Shishu Nistha Niketan has reiterated that the new School Transport Policy was implemented in the current session of the school for the comfort, security and safety of the students in compliance with the Supreme Court directives and following the CBSE's mandatory guidelines for school transport.
In a statement, the school principal stated that parents/guardians have been asked before the start of the current session to avail school approved transport if their wards need transport to and from the school and also asked to choose either school approved transport or private arrangement.
''The school never insist students who attend to and from the school by foot, bicycle, drop and pick up by parents/guardians or family members to avail school approved transport.
Even if RTE is to be applied, those parents/guardians led by Pushpa Gurumayum and her party would not qualify to enjoy RTE,'' the statement added.
