Imphal, June 02 2018: Augustine Kshetrimayum s/o Prof Rajendra Kshetri and Dr Meinam Binota of Chingamakha Oinam Leirak, Singjamei, Imphal West has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics by University of Mainz, Germany for his thesis "Quantum many-body systems and Tensor Network algorithms" with the grade 'Summa Cum Laude', a rare distinction awarded to the top PhD graduates in German Universities.

Dr Augustine Kshetrimayum also has the distinction of being one of the first Manipuris, if not the first, to have his research paper published in Nature journal as a first author.

He has also to his credit several other research papers published in 'Physical Review' of the American Physical Society; presented more than 20 talks and posters in various International Conferences.

Also a Referee of the scientific journal 'New Journal of Physics' (UK), Dr Augustine obtained his Masters in Physics from King's College London (UK) with 'Distinction' (also best in UK), having graduated from Hansraj College, Delhi University with 1st Class Honours in Physics.

He did his schooling from Catholic School Canchipur, Imphal and Doon Public School, Delhi.

He is currently a Post Doctoral Fellow at Berlin University, Germany.
