Dimapur, November 01 2019:
The
NSCN-IM said tonight "God
has answered prayers of
everyone "across Nagalim"'
and added that they are now
able to take "positive steps
towards final solution."
In a statement issued to
Newmai News Network tonight,
the NSCN-IM said,
"The chief negotiator Mr Th
Muivah along with his delegates
on behalf of National
Socialist Council of Nagalim
(NSCN) extends their profound
gratitude and
appreciation to every individual,
Church, forum,
convention, associations,
National workers, prayer
center/group, civil society,
etc.
across Nagalim and beyond
for your unceasing
prayers".
It added, "They
know for sure that God has
answered your prayers and
they are now able to take
positive steps towards a final
solution".
The NSCN-IM stated that
its negotiating team "earnestly"
appealed to everyone
to continue upholding both
the negotiating parties in
"your prayers so that the
twenty two (22) years Indo-
Naga peace talk is gracefully
concluded before long".
Besides others, the statement
said that its negotiating
team expressed its sincere
thanks to Nagaland Joint
Christian Forum (NJCF) and
Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) "for rising to the occasion with
their steering role".
Also feeling elated, Naga National Political
Groups (NNPGs) appreciated the "understanding" arrived at
between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM).
"The Working Committee (WC) of NNPGs believes that
the NSCN(IM) leadership has opted for peace and adopted a
practical and realistic approach in arriving at a conclusion of
negotiations by accepting the reality of the time," a statement
of the NNPGs said.
The statement said, "In the course of negotiations between
NNPGs and the Government of India, the latter had also
endorsed the usage of Naga emblem/flag specifically for cultural
identity within Naga homeland".
According to the NNPGs, the Naga flag is a political
symbol and cannot be confined to socio-cultural activities.
"Therefore, together in one voice, Nagas would pursue it
politically and democratically".
The NNPGs then added, "The
flag, since the dawn of Naga political consciousness, has ever
been an expression of our political identity and aspirations".
In a separate statement, the Naga Hoho also expressed
happiness on the development.
"The talks culminated in a
peaceful atmosphere with mutual understanding from all the
parties which has been the desire of the Naga people," the the
Naga Hoho said in a statement.
It said that fear and uncertainty have been looming large in
the minds of the Naga people when the much waited final pact
was in a deadlock.
"However, Naga Hoho is highly elated to
have learnt that the differences have been worked out on
October 31 in New Delhi".
The Naga Hoho congratulated
Interlocutor RN Ravi and NSCN (I-M) leadership for arriving
at a "mutual understanding".
The Naga Hoho also congratulated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home
Minister, Amit Shah for having the "resoluteness" to solve
the Indo-Naga political issue.
"The dream and desire of the
Naga people for permanent peace and tranquillity in our Naga
homeland will soon become a reality by paving a way forward
for the future," it said.
The Naga Hoho also appreciated all the
civil societies, mass-based organisations, Churches and the
Naga people for their "constant" support and prayers.
The Nagalim for Christ, a Council of Nagalim Churches
has also thanked God for enabling the NSCN and the Government
of India to continue the peace process for a final
solution.
