ASF outbreak reported in Kamjong

Following confirmation of outbreak of African Swine Flu (ASF) at Dang's Piggery Farming in Grihang village of Kamjong district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district has declared the entire district as controlled area under The Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Disease in Animals Act, 2009.In an order issued Wednesday, DC Ranganmei Rang Peter declared one km radius around Dang's Piggery Farming as the infect ed zone, and 10 km radius from the infected premises as surveillance zone.
The order said that no live pig or pig feed or pork and pork products would be allowed to be taken out of or brought into the zone.
No carrier of goods or animals would carry any animals from or out-of the infected zone.
No person is allowed to take out any pig alive or dead which is infected or suspected to be infected with African Swine Flu, the DC specified, adding that no person is allowed to carry any pig feed or other materials - namely carcass, skin or other parts or products of such animal which has come in contact with any animal infected or suspected to be infected from ASF.
No person, organisation or institution shall hold any animal market or exhibition and carry on any activity which involves grouping or gathering of pigs within the zone, the order elaborated and also instructed the district office of veterinary & animal husbandry as well as SDO Kamjong to take up immediate measures under the Act, and as per provision provided under National Action Plan for Control, Containment and Eradication of African Swine Fever in the infected zone.
