Imphal, June 01 2013 :
In an emergency meeting, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) units of Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Chandel, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Imphal have resolved to oppose 'tooth and nail' the pseudo ATSUM's proposed 'Intense agitation' for 38 hours under the code name ROTO (Reckoning of the Others), which is to begin from 5 a.m.of June 3 and to be followed by another 38 hours of 'sustained agitation', as it is not a legitimate or mandate tribal students' body to speak on behalf of the tribals as of now.
In a joint statement, Paokai Haokip, President of KSO Churachandpur branch; Letkholund Khongsai, President of KSO Ukhrul Branch; Thangjalet Mate, President of KSO Chandel Branch; Chonneo Lupho, President of KSO Imphal Branch; Thangminlen Kipgen, President of KSO Sadar Hills and Seilun Singson, President of KSO Tamenglong Branch said that the student bodies felt really unfortunate that in spite of repeated suggestions and advices by various tribal apex student bodies, some vested interest persons have continued to operate in the name and style of ATSUM ignoring/bypassing the "ATSUM's Interim Body'.
Since this is a pseudo ATSUM having no legitimate support of KSO and likeminded Naga students' bodies, it will be seen that everything it embodied will be just hogwash.
These people should not try to steal the name of ATSUM but try to realize that ATSUM cannot just work without the 'unanimous' support of the KSO and ANSAM as its supporting pillars.
These supposed leaders of ATSUM must not hope to take the easy way out by trying to gain mileage from whatever ATSUM had painstakingly built and achieved so far.
Senior tribal student leaders are ceaselessly working to restore ATSUM to its former self under the auspice of the "ATSUM's Interim body", with the support of the ANSAM, the KSO, and the former leaders of ATSUM, the joint statement added.
