Imphal, November 30 2021:
Loktak Development Authority Workers' and Employees' Union has taken the decision to resume the previously suspended sit-in protest/cease work strike from 9 am Wednesday to denounce alleged failure of LDA authority to translate their assurances into action.
In a memorandum submitted to the LDA project director, Union general secretary P Shyamkumar Singh stated that a Special General Body meeting of the Union was held on November 27 at its office and several resolutions adopted.
The members deliberated on the lackadaisical attitude of the LDA authority regarding implementation of 7th Pay Commission in toto in the LDA.
The Union observed that the LDA authority had not taken any action despite the verbal assurance given by the project director on October 30, 2021 to implement the 7th Pay Commission with effect from January 1, 2016 and cash payment with effect from April 1, 2021 in LDA.
Even after the lapse of one month no action has been taken by the project director to honour the agreement, the members decried and unanimously resolved to resume the suspended agitation and cease work strike from Wednesday till the demands of the Union are fulfilled.
The sit in protest from Wednesday will continue till December 3 followed by the cease work strike from December 4 till the demands are met.
The members also observed that as' the 7th Pay Commission has been implemented for Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd in toto the employees and workers of LDA too deserve the same benefits as both Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd and LDA are under the state government.
The Union members also took the decision to not allow the use of heavy vehicles and machinery of the LDA in other works other than that of LDA with necessary payments/TR.
If any vehicles/machinery are found engaged in works other than that of LDA, it shall be made known to public through print media, it said.
Furthermore, the Special General Body meeting discussed in detail the service conditions of all workers/employees who have rendered the service for more than 20 years and unanimously resolved that no fresh recruitment shall be allowed by the Union till the regularisation/promotion of the existing eligible workers/employees, it added.
