Imphal, January 31 2022:
Sitting BJP MLA of Moirang assembly constituency Pukhrem Sarat, former minister Ningthoujam Biren of Sekmai assembly constituency and retired director of MANIDCO & MANITRON Ningthoujam Joykumar, who is from Bishnupur assembly constituency; have joined Congress party on Monday.
While felicitating the trio, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken opined that though BJP has been claiming to win no less than 40 seats in the upcoming election but on seeing the party's candidate list, it is doubtful if the saffron party could even reach the double digit mark.
Likening BJP to a bubble, Loken said that the party will burst and wiped from the soil of Manipur.
NPP and JD-U cannot make a significant presence in the post poll scenario and as such a new government led by Congress will emerge in the state, he asserted.
The BJP-led government has failed to bring development and keep its promises in the last five years, he said while contending that the state has been regressing.
He also recounted how BJP forcibly formed the government by denying Congress party the opportunity despite emerging as the single largest party.
In his address, CLP leader Okram Ibobi said that the much hyped double-engine BJP government has failed to bring development and advancement in the state.
It is time for the public to find an exit from the present government and its poor performance.
Though several union ministers frequently visited the state just to claim that BJP has brought Delhi to Imphal, they never brought any special package for the state and its people.
Due to its poor performance and failure, public will give their mandate against BJP in the state assembly election, he said.
Calling the three new entrants as key assets of Congress party, Ibobi urged the people to cast their votes wisely in order to free the state from the reign of BJP government.
