Only two die of Covid, 223 newly infected, TPR drops

Though there are questions over the classification of death cases related with Covid-19, the number of official Covid 19 death has reduced to two on Monday.
Daily positivity rate also dropped to 8.89 per cent on Monday with government bulletins reporting 223 new cases out of 2509 samples tested as against 11.16 per cent registered on Sunday.
The active caseload came down to 3340 out of which 1188 (35.57 per cent) are in home isolation, 864 (25.87 per cent) in CHICs, 740 (22.16 per cent) in CCCs and 548 (16.41 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 124 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 189 are on oxygen support and 51 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 166, 36 and 15 patients respectively.
At the same time, 18 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Monday evening, 466 beds including 105 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Sunday evening 2807 beds were reportedly available in different CCCs, and 318 beds (20 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 84,151 positive cases and 1407 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 15,052 new cases and 225 fatalities out of which 2339 new cases and 26 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 223 new positive cases included 221 civilians (98 male & 123 female) and 2 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
Their samples were tested at RIMS (17), JNIMS (11), District Hospitals (100) and other testing centres (95) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (45), Imphal West (69), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (34), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (5), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (1), Noney (2), Pherzawl (12) and Kangpokpi (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 2 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information were disclosed by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Ukhrul (1) and Kakching (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1781 .
None of the two victims had received vaccines and they did not have any co-morbid conditions.
In the last 24 hours, 269 persons were discharged from home isolation (127), RIMS (13), JNIMS (3), CCCs (81) and CHICs (45) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,13,551 (general population - 1,09,442 and CAPF personnel - 4,109).Number of recovered cases is 1,08,430 (general population - 104,341 and CAPF personnel 4,089) and number of active cases is 3,340 (general population - 3,325 and CAPF personnel - 15).The recovery rate is 95.49 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1199 D-type and 314 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 990 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,85,319.Out of them, only 3,34,507 have received both doses of the vaccine though 4,14,026 people are eligible to get the second shot of Covishield in the state.
Meanwhile, 29 new positive cases were detected out of 323 samples tested in Kakching district on Monday.
Out of them, 14 cases were detected at Elangkhangpokpi Mayai Leikai in a mass testing programme following detection of 30 cases from the locality on Sunday.
Altogether 254 samples were tested in the mass testing programme.
One case each was detected at Ema Hospital and Jivan Hospital while 13 cases were detected at government RAT sites.
All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,413), Imphal East (25,276), Thoubal (9123), Churachandpur (9574), Kangpokpi (2612), Tamenglong (3110), Bishnupur (8678), Senapati (2065), Ukhrul (2253), Kakching (6171), Chandel (2158), Noney (992), Tengnoupal (1013), Jiribam (995), Kamjong (709) and Pherzawl (409) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (590), Imphal East (419), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (182), Senapati (7), Ukhrul (27), Kakching (110), Chandel (33), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,594 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,461 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,89,013 tests per million population against the national average of 3,72,673 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2509 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.89 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.41 per cent.
