Imphal, October 29 2016:
A two-day tier III training programme on "Water quality issues and ground water stress areas" has concluded today at Wangkhei High School, Imphal.
The training programme was organised GETS (Geo-Environmental and Technical Services), Canchipur, Imphal and sponsored by the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, RD&GR, Government of India.
Tier III training programme is a village/block level training cum awareness programme under the capacity building programme of RGNGWTRI, Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, RD&GR, Government of India to create awareness among the people at grass root level about the aquifer system, water quality and co-operative management of the aquifer in an equitable manner by community efforts.
During the training programme, special emphasis was given to women as they manage resources better.
Awareness programme for school children in both rural and urban areas are conducted every year by CGWB through painting and essay writing competition at school level.
Ph Yaima Singh, retd SE, PHED, Dr Utpal Gogoi, Regional Director, CGWB, NER, Guwahati, L Gourakishore Singh, Chief Engineer, MI, Ksh Pritam Singh, Additional Chief Engineer, IFCD, Dr Khanikar, scientist, CGWB, NER, Guwahati and Dr S Somarendra Singh, scientist, CGWB, NER, Guwahati also attended the programme on October 28 .
Certificates were also distributed to the participants during the valedictory programme.
