High Court to be shifted to Chingmeirong on April 7

Imphal, March 29 2012:
The Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench, which is presently located at Khuyathong, would be shifted to the newly constructed Court Complex at Chingmeirong on April 7 next.
To inaugurate the functioning of the High Court from the new court complex, Altamas Kabir, Justice of Supreme Court, would be arriving at Imphal, a day ahead.
During his short stay at Imphal, Kabir would also be inaugurating two Legal Aid Clinics, one each at Malom and Uripok Cheirap Court.
The function would be attended by 25 Justices including Chief Justice of various High Courts and retired Judges.
According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, Justice Altamas Kabir, who is likely to be the next Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India, would be accompanied by Supreme Court Justice AK Patnaik, Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, Justice Madan B Lokur, Justice Chalameshwar, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court AK Goel and the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court during his visit to Imphal.
The report further informed that Chief Minister O Ibobi would be present at the inauguration of functioning of the High Court at the Chingmeirong Court Complex, which had been inaugurated by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during their last visit to Manipur.
Before the ceremony of shifting the High Court at the Chingmeirong Court Complex on April 7, Justice Altamas Kabir would inaugurate a Legal Aid Clinic at Malom and another at Uripok Cheirap Court.
The function would be attended by Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Justice AK Goel, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court and Justice Madan B Lokur, Chief Justice, Andhra Pradesh High Court.
At around 10 am of April 7, Justice Altamas Kabir would attend a "Workshop on Role of Legal Services Authorities in Access to Justice and Juvenile Justice" to be organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority at MFDC Auditorium, Palace Compound.
Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Justice Madan B Lokur, Chief Justice, Andhra Pradesh High Court would attend the workshop as Guest of Honour while Justice AK Goel, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court would preside over it.
During his stay, Justice Altamas Kabir would also be paying a visit to the Punya Nawa Yaiphakol, children and juvenile home run by Integrated Women and Children Development Centre, at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai and witness the programmes presented by children of the Home.
