BJP announces candidates for bye-polls; Rajnath to be star campaigner

Imphal, October 27 2015: BJP has announced its candidates for the bye-elections to the two legislative assembly constituencies in Manipur on Tuesday.

The elections will be held on November 21 .

According to sources, Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh is likely to be state poll campaigner for the bye-election.

In a press note issued by BJP Central Election Committee Secretary, Jagat Prakash Nadda said the BJP has decided to field Th Bishwajit Singh for 5 Thongju A/C and Kh Joykishan Singh for the 9 Thangmeiband A/C.Congress had already fielded Jotin Waikhom and Bijoy Koijam as candidates in Thangmeiband A/C and Thongju A/C respectively.

It may be mentioned that the date of issue of Gazette will be on Tuesday.

The last date for making nominations is November 4.Scrutiny of Nominations will be held on November 5 and the last date of withdrawal of candidates on is November 7 .

After holding the bye-elections on November 21, counting of votes will be held on November 24 .
