KNA-UKLF ink accord

Taking note of the tense situation following the standoff between the KNA and UKLF at Moreh after a gun fight at the residence of one Thongminlun Haokip at Gamnom Veng, Moreh Ward number 2 at about 2 am of July 13 this year, a Peace Commission under the aegis of the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh has been formed.
Informing this in a statement, Hill Tribal Council said that the main objective of forming the Peace Commission is to bring the two UG groups to a compromise and added that after much persuasion, the two sides were brought to the negotiating table.
In accordance with the Thadou-Kuki custom and culture a grand 'compromise banquet' attended by representatives of CSOs of Moreh was hosted by the Peace Commission at the conference hall of HTC on July 23.A peace accord was also signed by Thangboi Haokip, who is the OC, Taq Hqs of KNA on one side and M Joshua Thadou, secretary UKLF on the other.
Both sides proclaimed that no untoward incidents will henceforth occur.
It was also declared that no one should interfere in the July 13 firing incident at Moreh without the knowledge of the Peace Commission.
FIRs and any other such complaints should be withdrawn, added HTC.
