Imphal, March 27 2020:
All Manipur Kidney Transplant Patients' Welfare Association has sought the immediate attention of the State Government regarding the shortage of medicines for kidney transplant patients, saying that the patients are facing immense grievances as a result of the lockdown/curfew imposed by the Government following COVID-19 outbreak.
The general secretary of the association, in a statement, mentioned that the association found out about the shortage of medicines when they visited most of the pharmacies in the State.
Maintaining that the medicines for kidney transplant patients used to be available only at some particular pharmacies, it added that the patients are at loss now as most of them are daily wage earners and have been hit hard by the curfew.
The association continued that the patients cannot just change the company of their medicines easily while adding that if required, the TAG level in the patient should be checked before they are prescribed a new medicine.
It urged the State Government to initiate necessary measures to make the medicines for kidney transplant patients available like before.
