Imphal, January 27 2021: Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) observed the 106th birth anniversary of freedom fighter 'Rani Gaidinliu' and 72nd Republic Day.

The celebration was attended by Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs), Athuan Abondmai, president of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) and prominent leaders of Zeliangrong, said a statement issued by ZUF.

ZUF will continue to be a vanguard for Zeliangrong and kindred communities "demanding a statehood within the Indian Union following the step of Rani Gaidinliu" .

Rani Gaidinliu was born on Jan 26, 1915 at Longkao (Nungkao) village, Tousem sub-division.

She continued the agitation against the British colonial power after the death of Haipou Jadonang, added the statement.

She died on February 17, 1993 at the age of 78 .

Kabui Mother Association Manipur (KAMA) also remembered Rani Gaidinliu on her 106th birth anniversary, said another statement of KAMA.
