Assam Rifles recovers smuggled timber, wild bear meat

Ukhrul, November 26 2020:
Acting on an input about likely movement of persons from Somra tract in Myanmar towards Ukhrul through BP 125-126, one column of Assam Rifles troops moved towards the said area on November 23 and found newly created Kundagari tracks from south of BP 125 .
At around 8 pm, the Assam Rifles troops intercepted and seized 12 individuals carrying illegal timber, two vehicles (Maruti Gypsy) carrying bear meat and three single bore guns, said IGAR (South) in a statement.
On scrutinizing the said persons it was revealed by them that they smuggled the timber and killed the bear from Ngacham, Myanmar.
The apprehended persons along with vehicles have been handed over to the Chingai police station for further action, it added.
