Students Union Election on Nov 12

The notification for conduct of Students' Union Election in colleges of Manipur for the academic session 2012-13 has been issued by Dr RK Yaiskul, Addl Director of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur today.
Accordingly, the date of poll is on November 12.The last date of filing nominations is November 7 and the scrutiny will be done on November 9 .
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 9 and the results will be declared on the day of polling itself, i.e.on November 12 .
Meanwhile, Joint Students' Co-ordination Committee has announced that the election code of conduct for the ensuing college students union's election for the year 2012-13 will be put into effect from October 28 till the day of the election.
Briefing media persons at the head office of AMSU here today, Longjam Umakanta, Convener of Joint Students' Co-ordination Committee, made it clear that all the intending candidates should abide by the 14-point rules put up by the Committee in connection with the ensuing Students' Union Election.
Explaining the rules, Umakanta said that the candidates can campaign for election only inside their college campus and not beyond.
No posters, cards or any identifying pictures of the candidate can be used for electioneering purpose to woo voters.
No tea party, grand feasts and presentation of gifts in the form of cash or kind to students can be done and home campaign would be prohibited strictly.
He further informed that all the intending candidates have to face open discussion so that the fittest one can be identified and chosen by the students.
While the election code of conduct is in force, no picnic, study tour, cinema and charity show would be allowed.
Use of drugs and alcohol in and around the college campus would also be prohibited.
No student of a particular college can enter the campus of another college to carry out election campaign.
Moreover, no member of the monitoring cell can be a candidate, inner agent, proposer, seconder and counting agent, he added.
