Daily cases, TPR rise as state sees four more deaths

Imphal, August 26 2021: The state on Thursday reported four fatalities along with 380 new positive cases out of 3206 samples tested, registering test positivity rate (TPR) of 11.9 per cent against 10 per cent TPR and 377 cases recorded on Wednesday.

The active caseload has come down to 3596 out of which 1354 (37.65 per cent) are in home isolation, 890 (24.75 per cent) in CHICs, 761 (21.16 per cent) in CCCs and 591 (16.43 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 128 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 211 are on oxygen support and 60 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 153, 25 and 15 patients respectively.

At the same time, 18 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Thursday evening, 457 beds including 81 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening, 2786 beds were reportedly available in different CCCs, and 292 beds (20 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 82,955 positive cases and 1393 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 13,856 new cases and 211 fatalities out of which 2512 new cases and 35 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, 379 people (187 male & 192 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (6), NIMS (60), District Hospitals (207) and other testing centres (107).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (82), Imphal West (144), Thoubal (20), Bishnupur (25), Kakching (10), Ukhrul (40), Churachandpur (14), Senapati (7), Tamenglong (20), Jiribam (1), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (9) and Kangpokpi (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee confirmed four Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (1), Imphal East (1), Ukhrul (1) and Kangpokpi (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1767.None of the four victims received Covid vaccines and two of them did not have any co-morbid conditions.

In the last 24 hours 352 patients were discharged from home isolation (120), RIMS (23), JNIMS (40), CCCs (86) and CHICs (83).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,12,355 (general population - 1,08,256 and CAPF personnel - 4,099).Number of recovered cases is 1,06,992 (general population - 1,02,921 and CAPF personnel - 4,071) and number of active cases is 3,596 (general population - 3,573 and CAPF personnel - 23) .

The recovery rate is 95.22 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1435 D-type and 332 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 7608 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,80,937.However, number of fully vaccinated individuals is only 3,19,448 though the state has 3,88,761 people eligible for both doses of Covid vaccine.

Meanwhile, only three new positive cases were detected out of 74 samples tested from Wednesday 2 pm to Thursday 2 pm in Kakching district.

Two cases were detected at Ema Hospital and one at government RAT site.

All are residents of the district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on 1DSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (37,921), Imphal East (25,062), Thoubal (9048), Churachandpur (9491), Kangpokpi (2600), Tamenglong (3069), Bishnupur (8606), Senapati (2043), Ukhrul (2204), Kakching (6106), Chandel (2139), Noney (987), Tengnoupal (1010), Jiribam (995), Kamjong (709) and Pherzawl (365).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (587), Imphal East (414), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (152), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (181), Senapati (7), Ukhrul(25), Kakching (109), Chandel (33), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,209 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,334 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,85,119 tests per million population against the national average of 3,67,685 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 3206 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 11.9 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate stands at 9.40 per cent.
