Centre sanctions Rs 111.62 crore for NH-37

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned Rs 111.62 crore in the first phase to repair the National Highway 37 of Imphal-Jiribam road, which was included in the 100 Day's Programme list of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This was disclosed by the General Secretary (Administration) of BJP Manipur Pradesh Moirangthem Asnikumar on Wednesday to the media persons while confirming that the Central Government will also further sanction Rs 213 crore soon in the second phase.
Asnikumar said that MoRTH has sanctioned Rs 47.64 crore to repair National Highway-2, Imphal-Mao road and National Highway 102, Imphal-Moreh road while Rs 37.18 crore has been sanctioned to complete the Lokchao Bridge of Imphal-Moreh road during 2015-16.It has also been reported that the programme consists to further widen the road between Maram to Mao of National Highway 2.Meanwhile, the Ministry has also sanctioned around Rs 56 crore to convert the road between Singjamei to Lilong of National Highway 102 into four-lane.
Asnikumar recalled that a team led by BJP Manipur Pradesh President Thounaojam Chaoba visited and informed central authorities of the state's situation after Manipur was wrecked by the recent flood at valley districts and landslides at hill districts.
It has been reported that the state team thoroughly briefed on the untold hardships reeled by the people after many houses, paddy fields, fish farms and many more were damaged and sunk under water due to incessant rain in Manipur.
Later on August 7, the team led by Th Chaoba met with the Minister of Surface Road Transport Nitin Gadkari and urged to repair the National Highways in Manipur, said Asnikumar before adding that National Highway Construction Limited will work on National Highway 37 of Imphal-Jiribam Road instead of BRO.
Meanwhile, the bridges which have been damaged in the recent flood including Chakpi Karong Bridge will be inspected by a senior technical official team from the centre on Thursday.
