Mass vaccination prog held at Singhat village

Churachandpur, June 26 2021:
Churachandpur district administration, district police and CMO Churachandpur in collaboration with Singhat MLA organised a mass COVID-19 vaccination programme at the playground of Muallum village under Singhat assembly constituency on Saturday.
Singhat MLA G S Haupu, additional DC Churachandpur Thangboi Gangte, additional SP Lawrence, CMO District Hospital Dr VC Pau and SDO (Singhat) Jameson Hangshing witnessed conduct of the programme.
After initial hiccups due to hesitancy of the villagers to take part in the vaccination programme fearing they would be forcibly vaccinated, the programme could start only from around 11:45 am.
Earlier, police had to be utilised to call out the villagers for taking part in the programme.
Finally, the programme started after villagers turned up.
During his speech, MLA GS Haupu assured the people not to fear as they would not be forcibly vaccinated and stressed the importance of getting the Covid vaccine.
He provided 20 kg of rice and 5 kg of dal to each household of the village.
Dr VC Pau, Thangboi, Lawrence also explained about the need to get vaccinated while rubbishing the fake news being spread through various social media.
They also explained about the efficacy of the vaccine and about its importance to protect oneself from the risk of COVID-19 infection while allaying fear of forcible vaccination, testing and others.
In Muallum village, 67 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 and five had died so far due to COVID-19 .
