Imphal, April 26 2018:
DESAM has urged the State Government to initiate befitting action against teachers who are reluctant to discharge duties at their place of posting.
Speaking to media persons at their Sagolband Moirang Leirak office today, DESAM secretary general Shital Oinam said that teachers who are reluctant to work at the places they are transferred would be assumed as irresponsible and disinterested in their own profession.
Citing a case of some teachers disregarding transfer orders whereby they have been transferred to Moirangpurel High School and Moirangpurel Primary School, Shital said that a departmental enquiry should be instituted against them.
Only seven teachers have been teaching at Moirangpurel High School which has around 350 students reading between Classes VI and X.Moirangpurel Primary School has similar number of students.
It is a matter of great concern that MLAs and Ministers have been interfering in the transfer and posting of Education Department, Shital decried.
The student leader appealed to the department concerned to stop the practice of utilising school teachers for different works other than teaching.
The Education Minister was also urged to look into the matter or resign if he is unable to control the department.
