FEGOCTA on Thursday wrote to both the Prime Minister and the union education minister apprising them of the association's demand for implementation of 7th UGC Pay in Manipur.
FEGOCTA requested the PM and the education minister to direct the state government to implement 7th UGC Pay as it is a n ational policy and to help transform the collegiate education in Manipur.
"After 4th cabinet approval in 2019 and despite the Order of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 issued on 3rd July, 2021, the 7th UGC Pay is still not implemented in Manipur," the college teachers' body said.
In both the request letters, FEGOCTA stated that failure to implement National Policy of 7th UGC Pay in Manipur has demoralised the government college teachers of the state who feel they are being discriminated.
Without agitations other state governments including Arunachal Pradesh and Assam implemented 7th UGC Pay in 2018.The 7th Pay of other employees of Manipur government was implemented in 2019, the association pointed out, while asking for intervention in the interest of higher education.
In the meantime, FEGOCTA appealed to all the authorities concerned and stakeholders to act so as to ensure implementation of the national policy of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 in Manipur.
"If the government fails to issue 7th UGC Pay slips by 27th November, 2021 the college teachers will go ahead with agitation as announced by FEGOCTA.
If there is disturbance in academic activities after 27th November, 2021 in the colleges, the teachers should not be blamed," it warned.
