Imphal, June 25 2012:
Demanding to form a new Governing Body of Thambal Marik College, Oinam in Bishnupur District within five days from today, Association of Guardians, Thambal Marik College has warned of Tiddim Bandh.
Addressing a press meet, President of the Association, N Idubhusan said that the term of the previous Governing Body concluded on October 30 last year.
As per the rule, one representative from among donors and two from guardians have been elected on October 31 last year.
Two teacher representatives were also elected on November 2, 2011 along with nomination of two representatives from Manipur University.
On March 2 this year, two local representatives were also nominated by the local clubs.
On the same day, a representative from the Department of Education (U) was nominated by the government.
However, the process of forming the new governing body has been delayed since the state government has not given its approval.
The Association had approached the Education Minister on May 3 but in vain, Indubhusan lamented, and added that they would be imposing indefinite Tiddim Bandh to save the college if the government fails to form the governing body within five days from today.
