Imphal, January 25 2023: The Central Forest Division, Imphal has prohibited activities such as camping, picnicking, trekking, expedition, gathering etc inside the ten Reserved Forests under their Division citing increased incidences of forest fire.

A notification issued by RK Amarjit Singh, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Central Division has prohibited the aforementioned activities inside Langol and Langol Extension RF (Reserved Forest), Heingang RF, Chingkheiching RF, Nongmaiching RF, Khema RF, Sambei Purum RF, Khamenlok Gwaltabi RF, Yaingangpokpi RF and Laiching RF without permission under Section 26 Indian Forest Act, 1927 .

Further, the notification cautioned that individuals found flouting this directive will be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend upto 6 months or with fine or both.
