Imphal, June 24 2021:
Hills & Valley Council, Manipur has expressed disappointment over the manner of preparing the beneficiary list for award of relief to the victims of drought that occurred in 2019.In a release, Council president Kh Inaobi pointed out that the state government had declared a drought-like situation in Manipur in the year 2019 .
Subsequently, a field survey report prepared by SDOs and DAOs was submitted to their respective DCs which were then forwarded to the Secretariat office for necessary process.
The government then submitted the report to the NDRF, Union Ministry of Home Affairs for grant of drought relief fund.
However, NDRF sanctioned only a minimal amount of relief fund in November, 2020.Now, the state government has directed the respective DCs to submit the list of beneficiaries.
But, it has come to their knowledge that list of beneficiaries is being prepared without referring to the actual field survey report prepared by the then SDOs and DAOs.
Beneficiaries whose paddy fields which were not included in the field survey report are now found to be included in the preparation of the beneficiary list prepared by respective district administration, it alleged.
Hills and Valley Council, Manipur drew the attention of the chief minister for intervention in this regard and to direct the officials concerned to adhere to the original field survey report.
The Council will not remain as silent spectator if the matter is not looked into with earnest seriousness and any form of favouritism or random selection of beneficiary will not be tolerated, it further cautioned.
