Child prodigy Chonshimlan wins Voice Hunt title

Ukhrul, November 23 2012:
A 7-year old Chonshimlan Huileng mesmerised the crowd and won the hearts of the judges to grab the title of the Voice Hunt 2012 organised by Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society (UDCRMS) from the rest of five other finalists on Friday.
The child prodigy, fondly called as Lanlan, enthralled the crowds since the final rounds that kick-started from Wednesday and bagged the winner's cheque of Rs.10000 .
Lanlan is a student of class 2 of Ukhrul Public School.
She belted out a soul rending bilingual number and outsmarted the older contestants with her spectacular performance.
In the valedictory function held this afternoon, Brig.
AK Pandey, DIG, 10 sector AR gave away the prizes and certificate to the winner and other finalists.
A consolation cash prize of Rs.2000 each was also given to the five finalists.
Of the six finalists, Lanlan is the youngest of all.
The remaining five finalists are Khanthing, Sosemmi, Stephen, Raingam and Horchuila.
The first edition of the Voice Hunt was managed by Salt and Light Travelling Band.
As many as 74 candidates turned up for audition and 10 contestants were shortlisted for the final rounds.
However, two contestants pulled out from the competition due to other personal obligation.
The event was part of the 6th Exhibition and Sales of UDCRMS, which is being organised at TNL ground.
Special performances were rendered by Ngathingpam, Shimreingam, Weapon and Terence, who is a finalist in the NE Highway Star 2012 held in Shillong.
