Protests demanding ILP continue

Manipur continued to witness widespread protests demanding implementation of ILP system in the State on Thursday.
Apart from sit-in-protests, forming human chains, organising rallies, burning of effigies of Chief Minister Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam were witnessed in several parts of the valley.
Meitei-Pangals of Hatta area, Imphal East staged a sit-in-protest demanding Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) and punishment to all police personnel responsible in the death of Sapam Robinhood.
Similar protest was also held at Khurai Salanthong and Kontha Ahallup Leikai.
Thereafter, the protestors formed human-chains in the streets and shouted many slogans demanding ILP and justice in the killing of Robinhood, a Class XI student of Khurai Lairik Yengbam Leikai in Impal East.
He was killed in police action during ILP protest on July 8.At Kontha Ahallup, effigies of Chief Minister and Deputy CM were burned by protestors.
On Wednesday night too, torch rallies were held in several parts of Manipur.
A large number of men and women took part in the torch rallies at Nongmeibung, Wangkhei, Singjamei, Uripok, Tera, etc.
Curfew was relaxed from 5am to 7pm on Thursday in both Imphal East and Imphal West.
The indefinite curfew was imposed by the State Government since July 8 in the aftermath of the death of Sapam Robinhood.
