Imphal, May 23 2020: A truckload of betel leaves was seized by two organisations at Kotlen area along Imphal-Jiribam road at around 9 pm yesterday.

Acting on reliable informations, volunteers of the Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) and Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) along with personnel of New Keithelmanbi Police Station seized around 90 baskets of betel leaves while checking vehicles.

The betel leaves have been disposed by burying them in deep pits near the police station today, said the associations lauding the assistance of KSO (Kuki Students' Organisation) Moltam Block, Kangpokpi district, Kotlen villagers and New Keithelmanbi PS in disposing the betel leaves.

Meanwhile, the student bodies cautioned two individuals - Pratap of Lamdeng bazar and owner of the Tata truck Rajiv Kapoor to surrender before them within 3 days.
