Chandel bandh gaining support

Chandel, April 23 2013:
Naga Chief's Association, Chandel and Kukis Chiefs' Association, Chandel have expressed their solidarity and support to the ongoing indefinite Chandel district bandh being enforced by Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) over the demand for removal of surrendered cadres of KYKL (MDF) from Chandel district headquarters.
In a joint statement signed by Marim Chothe, General Secretary of NCAC, the two apex bodies observed that the bandh being imposed by CNPO is reasonable as it is for a cause for the betterment of entire people of Chandel.
The joint statement also warned of launching an economic blockade from April 26 in case the Government continues to remain silent over the demand.
Meanwhile, several civil society organisations in Chandel including Anal Naga Chiefs' Association, Chakpikarong Sub division; Anal Sinnu Ruwl; Anal Lenruwl Taangpi; Lamkang Students' Union and Anal Naga Tangpi have also endorsed the cause of CNPO.
On the other hand, Pashel Jailngam, General Secretary of ANTA, has condemned the assault on NSF speaker RS Jollyson on April 17 at Sora by Muslim community while the student leader was coming to Chandel for dispatching invitation for the ensuing NSF General conference to be held at Dimapur.
Jailgam also appealed to the RPF/PLA to release Alice Kamei on humanitarian ground.
