11 persons pulled up in sacrilege case

Utra Shanglen, Sana Konung and Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL) rounded up 11 persons on the charge of profaning Umang Lai Haraoba, made them understand and tender apology for their misdeeds.
The 11 persons pulled up by the cultural and religious authorities of Umang Lai Haraoba have been identified as Chingangbam Naoba (35) son of Ibobi, Thokchom Garenson (25) son of Sangeet, Loitongbam Romen (40) son of late Ingocha, Sougrakpam Somorendro (42) son of Ibotombi, Langpoklakpam Babita (43) daughter of Pari, Thingbaijam Inaobi (45) son of Sanjay, Laishram Nupim-acha (35) daughter of Manoj, Sougrakpam Ambedkar (45) son of Jiban, Laisom Ibohal (55) son of late Khamlen, Laisom Rajesh (21) son of Romesh, and Laisom Ajit Kumar (43) son of Gambhir, all residents of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai.
According to Utra Shan-glen general secretary Mutum Maniton, they were involved in activities that challenged the sanctity, and undermined the spiritual and cultural essence of Lai Haraoba during the Ibud-hou Khwairakpa and Ibem-dhou Khwairakpi Haraoba of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai on Saturday.
They came to know of the incident after a video of the event went viral on social media.
Apart from the 11 persons, representatives of local club, and Meira Paibi Lup were called to discuss the issue and made them understand the value of Lai Haraoba.
The individuals were advised to refrain from such activities in future, and they also apologised for their misconducts.
Maniton further appealed to the people of the state to abstain from such profane activities during Lai Haraoba festival in other localities.
