Mission to revive sacred groves started

Kakching, December 22 2019: A mission to revive sacred groves kicked off at H Keinahal Memorial English School, Langmeidong today.

Initiated by Valentina Elangbam, Brand Ambassador of Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission, the mission - 'tree plantation mission in sacred groves (Umang Lai Laibungs) of Manipur' is being sponsored by Alliance for Development Alternative Manipur (ADAM) Kakching, Junior Social Scientists' Hub, Kakching and HKMES, Langmeidong.

At the inaugural function of the mission today, climate activist Surjit Khsetrimayum presented a Banyan sapling (BN Ficus Religia) to Valentina.

The sapling was jointly planted by Valentina, HKMES Principal Dr H Jiten Singh and Surjit Ksh at Ibudhou Pakhangba Laikon, Langmeidong.

Valentina's friends, Birmangol Pukhrambam, consultant Junior Social Scientists' Hub Kakching and many volunteers attended the programme.
