Students of government schools who were keeping out of class for the last around one week since the commencement of the cease work strike by the teachers today drew attention of the state Education Minister in ending the strike and resume normal classes.
While drawing attention of the minister concerned, they also warned of launching various forms of agitations if government fails to address their demand.
Due to the cease work strike of the teachers under the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) commenced from November 15 last, mention may be made, classes in government schools remaining cancel.
The strike of the teachers was related with their demand for issuance of orders for payment of sixth revised bands which state government had already agreed.
Students today, in a submission, requested the Education minister to look into the matter to bring an end to the teachers' strike reminding that it has given a great impact to the academic atmosphere of the students.
In a briefing to reporters today at DESAM office, Keishampat, representatives of students of various government high and higher secondary school lamented that the cease work strike of the teacher's has given a great impact to their academic atmosphere.
General secretary of Lamlong Higher Secondary Students' Union, Saikhom Shantibala observed that the teachers' cease work strike would give a great impact to the students who are appearing in the HSLC and HSSLC exams to be conducted in March next year.
Expressing apprehensions of affecting to study careers of these students, she said that most of the syllabi are yet to be covered.
She also expressed dissatisfied with the striking teachers when they chose to suspend their duty instead of launching other forms of democratic protest to fulfill their demands.
Teachers' without taking care of the students launched the cease work strike instead of choosing other forms of democratic forms of agitation.
She also condemned the government for not finding a way to end the strike of the teachers and demanded that government should bring an end to the strike at the earliest.
Finance secretary of Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School Students' Union Ch Phajabi, general secretary of Khurai Popular High School Students' Union A Thouba, general secretary of Wangoi Higher Secondary School Students' Union and that of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School also attended the media briefing.
