Imphal, October 22 2012: A student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a cop and his film actor friend after giving her some cold drinks laced with sedatives in a restaurant at Ghari.

The accused duo has been arrested by the police.

According to police report, the arrested accused persons are Yumnam William (28), s/o late Y Doban of Khagempalli Pankha and Thongam Tarun (27), s/o Th Jayenta of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai.

Yumnam William is a driver in Imphal West District Commando unit while Thongam Ratan is a Manipuri film actor and singer.

According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, the girl was lifted by Y William, who also happens to be her boyfriend, while she was returning home from school on Saturday last.

At that time, William was accompanied by Ratan and they went to a restaurant at Ghari together.

There, restaurant she offered a cold drink and she lost consciousness soon after having some sips.

The two persons took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted her.

The girl was later found abandoned at Porompat.

Police have registered a case in this connection.
