510 kg Ganja seized, 6 arrested

Imphal, July 22 2014:
Personnel of 35 Assam Rifles, Senapati Company seized 510 Kgs of Ganja which was neatly packed in plastic bags and transporting in a vehicle on July 18 from a spot in between Karong and Senapati.
Six persons who were arrested in connection with the seizure have also been subsequently remanded in police custody.
According to AR and police report, following a tip off, a mobile vehicle checking operation was conducted by 35 AR jawans between Karong and Senapati at 10 pm on 18 July in which a truck bearing registration number NL-08 A-4274 was caught and six persons apprehended for carrying contraband ganja worth crore of rupees in international market.
Accordingly, Senapati Police registered an FIR (No.18 (7)), 2014, Spt.
Police station) under section 20 (b)(1)/60 ND & P.S.Act against the six arrested persons identified as Chingreishang Khamrang (37) S/o Anmi; Luckson (34) S/o (L) Ngachanmi; Them Singh (37) S/o Kumar from Torah Village, Ukhrul Dist.; Kathipri (16) S/o Koda of Tadubi; Ganesh Chhetry (25) S/o Krishna and Grija Chhetry (24) S/o Ramu from Karong.
All six of them have been remanded in police custody and further investigation is on to identify the owner of the truck and extract more information on the illegal trade.
