State logs 11 fresh cases amid Omicron scare

Imphal, December 21 2021:
Amid the Omicron scare following detection of three suspected cases of the latest variant, the state on Tuesday reported 11 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 1615 samples tested, thus, registering a daily positivity rate of 0.68 per cent against 2.49 per cent recorded on Monday.
Meanwhile, no new death cases were reported on Monday and the number fatality remains at 1995.The active caseload rose to 205 out of which 39 (19.02 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three reported fresh Covid cases on Monday with Imphal East reporting highest cases at 6.So far, the state has recorded 96,261 positive cases and 1621 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported so far 456 new positive cases and 18 fatalities out of which 112 new cases and 3 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 11 new positive cases included 10 people (3 male & 7 female) from among the general population and one from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (7).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (6) and Imphal West (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, only 10 patients were discharged from home isolation (7), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (2).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,661 (general population - 1,21,227 and CAPF personnel - 4,434).Number of recovered cases is 1,23,461 (general population - 1,19,034 and CAPF personnel - 4,427) and number of active cases is 205 (general population - 203 and CAPF personnel - 2).The recovery rate is 98.25 per cent.
A total of 497 D-type and 97 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 5834 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 13,13,442 out of which 9,62,397 have been fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on 1DSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,101), Imphal East (27,917), Thoubal (9489), Churachandpur (10,191), Kangpokpi (2789), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9233), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6450), Chandel (2366), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (668), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (178), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (193), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,497 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,825 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,67,132 tests per million population against the national average of 4,75,838 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1615 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 0.68 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.67 per cent.
