Imphal, August 21 2021:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has urged the State Government to increase the intake capacity of students at Government Higher Secondary schools in Imphal areas.
In a statement, the AMSU said that many students seeking admission at Government Higher Secondary schools this year is a positive development.
It would also be a grand success for the State Government and a relief for the people if a maximum number of students are admitted to Government schools, AMSU added.
Continuing that AMSU had on August 3 last submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor, Chief Minister, Education Minister and Education Department as Class X students were promoted sans exams this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the students union said that the students would have not worried for their further studies had the Government heeded their proposal.
The AMSU opined that increasing the intake capacity at Government educational institutions is of paramount importance as an overwhelming number of students cannot afford attending private schools.
To prevent these students from dropping out, the AMSU urged the Government to do the needful to accommodate more students at Government schools.
