District level DISHA committee meeting held

A meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, also referred to as DISHA, for Bishnupur district was held on Friday at Bishnupur mini secretariat conference hall.
The meeting was chaired by Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP and DISHA Committee chairperson Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.
The meeting, organised by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Bishnupur, saw active participation from various departments operating in the district, including Health, Education, Panchayati Raj, Housing and Urban Development, Women and Child Development, Land and Resources, Food and Public Distribution, Veterinary, Transport, and Municipal Councils.
The district level officers (DLOs) presented detailed PowerPoint presentations on various centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the district.
Dr Bimol closely reviewed the progress of various departments and their respective schemes.
Special attention was given to sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, and livelihood development, with the aim of ensuring the effective implementation and improvement in these areas.
In his address, Dr Bimol vowed commitment to conducting regular DISHA review meetings, emphasised the importance of such meetings in monitoring grassroots-level development and highlighted the value of on-site inspections to better understand the ground realities and enhance development efforts.
He sought the cooperation of all stakeholders to perform their duties to the best of their abilities so as to bring about a positive change in the society.
He also urged all DLOs to maintain transparency and accountability in their work for the betterment of the district.
Deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram updated the committee on the activities of the district administration and the line departments.
Apart from performing the normal duties, he also stressed on the additional role taken by the DLOs in the operation and maintenance of relief camps in the district.
There are 45 relief camps in the district where in around 9500 internally displaced persons are staying, he added.
The DC also informed that with improvement in the law-and-order situation, the district is now focusing on implementation and monitoring of developmental schemes.
He assured that efforts are being made to address the needs of vulnerable areas, in collaboration with the police.
The DC also mentioned challenges faced in implementation of schemes and projects in some parts of the district as movements are restricted.
He further mentioned about works taken up for people including the provision of compensation to the farmers for non-cultivation of agricultural land due to the conflict.
MLA Thanga assembly constituency T Robindro, representatives of other assembly constituencies of the district, elected members of local bodies, nominees of the DISHA committee and District Level Officers were also present at the meeting.
