Phumlou GP is now open defecation free

Imphal, March 21 2018: Phumlou Gram Panchayat, Imphal West district has been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF).

This was declared duringaGramSwachhtaSabha organised by Phumlou GP today.

The meeting was attended by Pradhan, Phumlou GP Maisnam Manikchand as chief guest; Mutum Munal, senior citizen of the village as president; Up-Pradhan A Sunibala; presidentofNational Sports University Haraothel Protection Committee, Telem Indramani and general secretary Kh Alexander as guests ofhonour.

Talking about the meeting, Manikchand said that Phumlou Gram Panchayat managed to get Open Defecation Free tag after the successful construction of 892 sanitary latrines under Swachh Bharat Mission.

He said that Phumlou GP comprises of Phumlou, Senjam Khunou, Loitang Khunou and Loitang Leikinthabi villages and 892 households out of the total 1550 do not have sanitary latrines.

Construction of 809 sanitary latrines has already been completed and the remaining 82 have also been put to use after completion of its construction.

However, there is no official of document in this regard, he said.

As such, the meeting declared Phumlou Gram Panchayat as Open Defecation Free, the Pradhan added.
