Imphal, November 20 2011: The Anjuman Islah-E-Muaashrah burnt down SP tablets, N10, Lupicop and Codorex bottles which were worth around Rs 10 lakhs seized from various drug peddlers of Lilong area today.

The seized drugs were burnt down to ashes after a public meeting was held at Idgah park at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai.

The public meeting was graced by MLA, Md Helaluddin and Mv Abdul Salam as the Chief Guest and President respectively.

Sanjiv Kumar, CO, 28 AR, Vikram Mehta, CO, 18-Sikh Regiment and Md Chaoba, OC, Lilong Police station were the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Md Helaluddin said that it is really a disgrace to the people of Lilong area that burning of drugs happen every now and then.

It has been a long time that drugs have been brought to Lilong area and is being sold and used here by the people who only think for themselves and not for the society.

These people who indulge in such crimes should be thrown out of the state or be hanged to death or else the issue of drug sale and use can never be controlled.

Simply burning the drugs will not solve the problem.
