Covid-19 claims 11 more lives, newly infects 644

The state on Thursday reported 644 new positive cases and 11 fatalities taking the cumulative number of infected persons closer to the 42,000-mark.With the addition of 644 new cases and discharge of 546 cases in the last 24 hours, the active caseload in the state has reached 6904, out of which 4413 are in home isolation and the remaining 2491 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including Covid Care Centres.
While 13,721 new cases and 291 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year, the current month has reported 10,323 new cases and 241 fatalities.
The last seven days alone reported 4313 new cases and 110 casualties.
The 11 fatalities reported on Thursday included a 48-year old male (IW), 33-year old male (IE), 34-year old female (CCpur), 78-year old male (IW), 43-year old male (IW), 85-year old male (IW), 60-year old female (IE), 57-year old female (IW), 65year old female (IW), 42-year old male (IE) and a 58-year old female (IW) who died at Babina (1), Shija Hospitals (1), DH Churachandpur (1), RIMS (5) and JNIMS (3) hospital respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths is 646.According to official reports, all the 644 new cases (344 male & 300 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (79), JNIMS (59), District Hospitals (191) and other private testing centres (315).The positive cases are from Imphal East (191), Imphal West (304), Thoubal (36), Bishnupur (33), Kakching (29), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (27), Chandel (5), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi (5) and Noney (5).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 546 patients were discharged from CAPF (2), home isolation (410), RIMS (3), RD Wing (16), BB (17), LANVA (5), NSU (16), SHRI (16), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), Jivan Hospital (8), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (9), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (5), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (3), Phungyar (2) and Kasom Khullen (2).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 41,909 (general population - 38,192 and CAPF personnel - 3,717).Number of recovered cases is 34,359 (general population - 30,794 and CAPF personnel - 3,565) and number of active cases is 6904 (general population - 6757 and CAPF personnel - 147) .
The recovery rate is 81.98 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1367 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 571 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities in the state.
According to CCR report, 3,31,631 individuals have been administered Covid vaccine till Wednesday.
CCR report further informed air passengers, who travelled to the state on May 19 by Air India AI-889 in rows 15-21 to report to the Common Covid Control Room 1800345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Meanwhile, 32 new cases have also been detected during RAT conducted in Kakching district on Thursday.
While two of them were tested at Jivan Hospital, the remaining 30 were detected during RAT conducted at the Government Covid Testing Centre.
Since the detection of first case of the district on May 19 last year, cumulative tally of Covid affected people in the district has reached 1615, as per report received from the district CMO.
Out of these, 31 have died and there are 307 active cases at present.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (14,904), Imphal East (9737), Thoubal (3151), Churachandpur (2848), Kangpokpi (1361), Tamenglong (1647), Bishnupur (2209), Senapati (930), Ukhrul (964), Kakching (1628), Chandel (812), Noney (488), Tengnoupal (470), Jiribam (386), Kamjong (334), and Pherzawl (40) .
Fatality counts in different districts are 240 on Imphal West, Imphal East (166), Thoubal (68), Churachandpur (51), Kangpokpi (17), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (44), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (22), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figures do not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 13,506 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 18,682 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,16,722 tests per million population against the national average of 2,31,588 TPM.
Case fatality rate remains at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 3113 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 20.69 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.23 per cent.
